WHO IS FRWRD DANCE CO?
FRWRD Dance Co is a professional performing group devoted to presenting bold, original modern/contemporary dance with the goal of engaging and enriching our community with work that is accessible, valuable and relevant.
AUDITIONS ARE CURRENTLY ONGOING
We continually seek strong, dedicated performers ages 18+*. While we are currently mid-season, rehearsing and creating work, individual auditions are ongoing. Interested artists are encouraged to connect with us, arrange an audition class, or email materials remotely. We often accept dancers mid-season as casting needs arise for upcoming performances in both new and existing repertory. Interested in getting involved or learning more? Join an open company class, come see us in performance, send audition materials (details below), or reach out anytime with questions.
*Apprentice placements for experienced dancers ages 16/17 are sometimes possible
WHY DANCE WITH US?
Since our launch in 2023, FRWRD has performed and partnered throughout central Pennsylvania as well as in Baltimore, MD. While some appearances/performances are on a volunteer basis, performers are paid for many appearances. With FRWRD, artists receive the opportunity to learn, perform, and grow within a supportive and challenging community. In addition to free company classes and a chance to perform in state-of-the-art theatrical settings complete with elaborate costuming and staging, the company also maintains a presence in the community with interactive and educational workshops. Some of the venues and presenters we have worked with these past two years, or are slated to work with this season, include Mickey’s Black Box, Mount Gretna Playhouse, the Ware Center for the Arts, Lancaster Conservancy, WestArt Lancaster, Lancaster Library, the North Museum, the Ann B. Barshinger Cancer Institute, and MD’s Howard Community Dance Festival.
WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
The ideal FRWRD performer will have a base in modern/contemporary dance and/or ballet. Versatility in other styles is a plus, such as musical theatre, jazz, and latin dance forms. Valuable skills and traits also include partnering, acting/musical theatre, and a curious approach to movement and conceptual material. We value diverse bodies and voices: all are welcome.
